Urban Camo Project (own example)

CAMO!!! MY EXAMPLES x3

1

This is my favorite Urban Camo Project I did so far. I took all my pictures and combined them together and printed it all out. Most of the pictures are repeated but people can't really tell. Nevertheless, I used black and white to represent all those unforgettable good days. The knob she is holding on, I'm trying to tell people that I'll keep all those memories till the end. Anyhow, the person in my picture is my roomie, Vicky. She only wear tank tops and shorts and let me stick all the pictures over her body. Also, the background we just stick them all together. However, I uncover her right hand, so people will know there is actually a person in this picture. Even though, this project  took us more than an hour and a half or more to finish it. But, it is totally worth it. I also asked my drawing teachers if I can use this picture to be one of my project to apply Emily Carr and they say YES!! :D

 2

This is my second Urban Camo Project. I just came to Canada last summer, and I really like this place. The environment, the people around me, the food, everything. So, when I was thinking what example I can use, this was the second one that pot in my mind. The person in this picture is my roomie, Vicky. We together bought the fake flower petal, the big Canadian flag and four big pieces of black papers. How we did was stick all four black papers on the wall and stick the flag on it. Then, I ask Vicky to wear white shirt, white shorts, black stockings and a black scarf. Also, we traced half of the maple leaf and cut if out with red paper so I can stick on her right hand. Overall, I kind of use a little effect to make it more like there is no one is this picture. I showed this picture to few of my friends and they told me, the first time they thought it was a pillow instead of a person. And yess I did it :DD

                                                                 3

This is the last example for my Urban Camo Project. As you can see, this is a Mummy made out of tissue pappers. In this picture, I'm trying to use the flower to represent a life and showing that the Mummy wants a returning life as well. Seating on a chair telling that, the Mummy is depress and hopeless. So, in this picture I can actually tell a story from it.  The person in this picture is my roomie, Vicky again. I asked her to wear all white, so she can be easily cover by the tissue pappers. I uncovered her both hands and her eye, that will be easier to tell that she is holding a live plant. The Mummy is hoping to be like a real human again. This is what I'm trying to show everyone.

Urban Camo Project (Write up)

Yvonne Bayer

Yvonne Bayer was born in Ulm, Germany 1983, making her 30 years old. She lives and works in cologne/ Germany. She had a diploma communication Design, Karlsruhe University of Art and Design.

Yvonne is a communication designer. She likes to work in different fields like graphic design, exhibition, religion and culture projects. She really enjoy every projects she is working on. This moment, she is looking for someone who is interesting on freelance projects, that can also join them.

Yvonne has won serval awards, such as, 1st prize poster contests for the 19th Karlsruhe artist fair and design the cover of the picture beat: Output award 2010.

Another Urban Camouflage designer, Sabina Keric. They team up together to work on the camouflage projects. They think this project "deals with the question how to camouflage oneself and one's identity in the commercial space". Also, they like to see costumers reactions because the customer expects nothing out of ordinary in a world of brands and price labels.

Overall, I like how Yvonne Bayer inspired the costumes by <<Ghillie Suits>>, the suits of snippers and hunters. Most of her projects are made out of cheap and simple materials, like bottle, gloves, boxes and papers. This really inspired me a lot, instead of painting all over yourself. This project is more creative and brilliant.

EXAMPLES!! x3

→ → 1→ →
I chose this picture because I liked how Sabina and Yvonne actually put all the color paper together into a suit. It definitely took them tons of times. Also, at the first time I saw this picture I thought it was too much paper and it was spilling out of the boxes.
 → → 2→ →
I chose this picture because I liked how they are creative. Also, using cheap and recyclable boxes. I think this is pretty funny as well, if it's me I bet I will have a funny reaction at these random pop up boxes person.
 → → 3→ →
I chose this picture because I liked how they were able to put on all the bottles into a suit, they definitely took lots of time doing it. They also used another cheap and recyclable resource to make up this project and I found out this is pretty cool and brilliant idea.

1: Your inspiration idea. What is it?
2: How did you compose the image.
3: How did you edit the image.

  • Every day we spend a lot of time using our computer and going on the social net, like,Facebook,Twitter, Instagram, Youtube, Tumblr and etc...  Therefore, I bet everyones' every lives is like that too, so this idea inspired me.
  • I laid the table and the chair down on the ground, I got my Mac and my binders too to pretend it was on the table; but they were actually on the ground as well. For the background, I took two posters to make it not that dull at the back.
  • I used Photoshop to find a better effect that works the best.

3: How did you edit the image.

  • My roomie and I are from Taiwan, we go back and forth a lot during summer breaks. It brought me to come up this idea, pretending she is at the airport pulling her big luggage that is really heavy and her favorite doll.
  • I took this photo in my room. I borrowed my roomie's luggage and sticked on all her favorite pictures, for example, Winnie the Pooh. She also carried her favorite doll around.
  • I used Photoshop to find to better fit effect.

  • STARS are my lucky sign. So I will definitely do something that have stars in my project. What my roomie was trying to do was  jump up high and catch the star. Which also means catch "luck".
  • My mom just brought tons of colorful papers for me from Taiwan, so I arranged it to be my background. Also, the star was made out by my color pencils and pastels. It is a colorful star, an unique star with a rainbow color sky.
  • I used Photoshop to find a perfect effect that is better.

Jan Von Holleben (Part 1)

Jan Von Holleben

Jan Von Holleben is born in Cologne in 1977 and brought up in the southern German countryside. His father is a photographer. At the age of 13, Jan Von followed his father by picking up a camera and experimenting all sorts of tricks his father taught him. Moreover, he gains a lot of photographic imaginations and skills from friends and his family.

He had been study in teaching children with disabilities;after he moved to London, he earned a degree in the Theory and History of Photographic at Surrey Institute of Art and Design. He also worked as a picture editor, art director and photographic director. In addition, he set up two of this photographic collectives, Young Photographer United and photodebut.

Today, Van Von Holleben's projects had been published widely throughout the whole world.

1

I chose this photo because I liked how they picked the place to take the shot, it made it like they really were in the wood and making ghost out of a sheet. Moreover, the vacuum cleaner was quite funny of how they were trying to let the sheet fly in the sky. The boy with long pants, the way he was looking at the ghost was really realistic; like three of them were having tons of fun in the wood.

   2

I chose this photo because I liked how it was so realistic. The girl was pulling the red short boy up, and the other boy is pulling the girl up. Also how they are standing on the rock, make me think they really are on a big rock. For the background, there are grass and few rocks makes it more like they're rock climbing.

3

I chose this photo because I liked how it reminds me of Harry Pottor. It is one of  my favorite movie and I love all of the characters in there. In this picture they sit on the broom stick, shows that they are really flying in the sky with the broom stick; especially they didn't put their head on the ground, they kinda tilt a little and make it more real. Moreover, the cloak feels like there are wind blowing.
